Thing ~ Being

The Re-model series, which dismantles and reconstructs musical objects such as instruments and records, has been created to suit the space of the Shiseido Gallery. Spread across the floor are metal materials from the musical instrument manufacturing process. The four walls are covered with mirror sheets to create an impression of infinite space. Sound is produced when visitors' feet come into contact with the metal parts. The reflections on the walls allow visitors to find themselves participating in the work, and to visually and audibly recognize their relationship with the musical instrument materials, as well as with the other people in the venue, in this work in which "human presence becomes sound."
